Nicolas Cage is reportedly nearing a deal to lead Season 5 of True Detective, which will be set in the Jamaica Bay area of New York City. Previous True Detective leads have included Jodie Foster, Mahershala Ali, Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, and Matthew McConaughey, with Foster, Ali, and McConaughey earning Emmy nominations and Foster winning both the Emmy and the Golden Globe for Season 4. Cage would mark only his second television lead after being cast as Spider-Man Noir in a live-action series titled Noir, scheduled to arrive in 2026. Cage and musician Nick Cave have both commented on frequent public cases of mistaken identity.
