Nico Tortorella celebrates 11 years sober from alcohol and credits both his wife and the plant kratom for supporting his sobriety. Tolrorella stopped drinking in 2015 after finishing season one of Younger and discovered kratom about eight to nine years ago. He developed an alcohol-free, kratom-infused drink called DER with a low 30 milligram kratom dose. Kratom is a herbal supplement made from Southeast Asian tree leaves. Low doses can act as a stimulant while higher doses may reduce pain and anxiety, though kratom can carry its own risks according to the Mayo Clinic. Tortorella is known for Scream and The Walking Dead and shares two young children with spouse Bethany C. Meyers.
