NBC Has Subscribed to The Paper
"Stop the presses - or maybe start them? Peacock's The Paper is expanding its circulation to broadcast TV, Vulture has learned. NBC will add the semi-spinoff of The Office to its primetime lineup on Nov. 10, barely two months after all episodes of the show's first season dropped on streaming. The Paper will air Monday nights at 8:30 p.m., sandwiched between returning comedy St. Denis Medical and reality competition The Voice."
"Opening up broadcast windows for streaming originals has become increasingly common over the last couple of years, with the time between digital and linear premieres rapidly shrinking. In 2023, CBS used the delays from the WGA and SAG strikes as an excuse to put season one of Yellowstone on its Sunday night fall schedule, while ABC has made early seasons of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building part of its midseason schedule for the past two years."
NBC will add The Paper, a semi-spinoff of The Office created for Peacock, to its primetime lineup on Nov. 10, with episodes airing Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. between St. Denis Medical and The Voice. All episodes of the show's first season were released on Peacock roughly two months earlier. This will mark the first full season run on NBC for a series created expressly for Peacock. Opening broadcast windows for streaming originals has become more common, with recent network runs of Yellowstone, Only Murders in the Building, and Paradise serving as examples. NBCU determined that the show's connection to The Office could help reach viewers who do not subscribe to Peacock and estimates that just four percent of NBC's core viewers regularly stream on Peacock.
