Michelle Williams stars as Molly Kochan in the eight-part FX limited series Dying For Sex, based on a podcast co-created by Molly and Nikki Boyer. The story follows Molly after a terminal cancer diagnosis as she chooses to explore desires and live fully in her remaining time. Jenny Slate plays Nikki, and Rob Delaney appears as Neighbor Guy. The series blends humor and heartbreak and has earned nine Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actress for Williams, Supporting Actress for Slate, and Supporting Actor for Delaney.
"I was moved by it. When I listened to the podcast, my heart immediately became attached to the story and to these people," Williams told On The Red Carpet. "I knew instantly and instinctually that I wanted to make this show."
"You can't really ever anticipate how people will respond or not respond to a piece of work that you do and you have to kind of put that out of your mind and just set your own goals and find satisfaction in the moment because you have no control once it goes out to the world," Williams said.
"It means so much to me because what we're really gathering over is Molly and Nikki. We're honoring the way they lived and the way they loved and that's what the response is," she continued.
"You get a feel on set and the feel on this set was very, very good," Delaney told On The Red Carpet. "How it turned out, the magic that happened in the translation from filming to broadcasting? Yeah, I feel very lucky."
