Kimmel and Colbert appear as guests on each other's shows
"I am so honored to be here with my fellow no-talent, late-night loser,"
"We thought it might be a fun way to drive the president nuts."
"We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it."
"ill-timed and insensitive."
Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert traded guest spots for simultaneous broadcasts from the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Ed Sullivan Theater, including a stunt in which they waved to themselves onstage. Both hosts mocked President Trump and other newsmakers during their monologues. Kimmel returned to the air after a temporary suspension that began Sept. 7 when ABC executives called his prior monologue "ill-timed and insensitive." Kimmel's comments about the killing of a right-wing activist and criticism of the MAGA movement drew outrage from Trump, conservative activists, the FCC chair and two major broadcast groups, which pulled his show off the air. Kimmel described the incident as an "emotional rollercoaster" and said he received a call from ABC executives while preparing for his next show.
