Jimmy Kimmel returns to Brooklyn with a week of live shows at BAM, and he's bringing Stephen Colbert with him
"Just call him Jimmy from the block: Mill Basin's own Jimmy Kimmel will return to the borough of his birth with a week of Brooklyn-set Jimmy Kimmel Live! episodes this fall. Though the comic's ABC late-night show usually broadcasts from the iconic El Capitan Entertainment Centre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, Kimmel has made it somewhat of a tradition over the years to relocate to his native New York City for a special set of shows."
"On his repeat returns to the BK, Kimmel previously told : "I was born here. A lot of my family is here. Probably more than anything, it's fun for us all to be here together and to eat and to hang out and to go to great bars," he admits. And while many late-night shows tape in New York City, he said, Brooklyn "has a little bit of a different feel than shows that are in the city.""
"One such program that films in Manhattan is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which was controversially cancelled by CBS, reportedly due to "financial concerns," despite being the highest-rated late night show in the coveted 11:35pm timeslot, beating both The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kimmel has publicly rallied behind Colbert in the wake of the cancellation and will welcome his fellow late-night host as a special guest during the Brooklyn Week shows."
Jimmy Kimmel will return to Brooklyn for a week of live Jimmy Kimmel Live! tapings at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House Monday, September 29 through Friday, October 3. The shows mark the seventh time the program has taped in Brooklyn, following weeks in October 2022 and 2019. The series usually broadcasts from the El Capitan in Los Angeles but relocates to New York for family gatherings and the borough's distinct atmosphere. Stephen Colbert will appear as a special guest during the Brooklyn week, and additional celebrity and musical guests will be announced.
