Police constable Trevor Buchanan was discovered dead alongside her. Trevor Buchanan's wife had been having an affair with Lesley Howell's husband. Both victims died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The cause of death was attributed to the grief both individuals had experienced as a result of their respective partners' infidelity.
