Hulu's dark comedy 'Sunny Nights' heads to Australia with Will Forte and D'Arcy Carden
"Will is like strait-laced, follow the rules, wants to do good. I'm more of a wildcard. She's hard to contain. They take this business all the way to Australia where they get into a little bit of trouble pretty quickly - and there ends up being a bit of violence."
"They had only written two episodes when I had to make the decision whether I was gonna do it or not. These 2 episodes were so well done, it was just really easy to go for it."
"We're from the same hometown. He went to the same high school that my sister went to. Like, there (are) so many overlaps. We know the same Taco Bell!"
"You know what was really cool is, we never shot on like a set or a stage. Everything was practical locations. We got to see so much of Australia through the locations that we shot on."
Sunny Nights is a new dark comedy on Hulu starring Will Forte and D'Arcy Carden as Martin and Vicki, siblings who launch a spray tan business and take it to Australia. Martin's personal crisis unfolds when his estranged wife suggests they remain friends, leading him into a one-night stand that triggers blackmail and extortion. The situation quickly escalates into violence and chaos. Carden describes her character Vicki as a wildcard difficult to contain, contrasting with Forte's rule-following Martin. The actors discovered natural chemistry and numerous personal connections, including sharing a hometown and knowing the same Taco Bell. Filming occurred entirely on practical locations throughout Australia, including near Bondi Beach, allowing the cast to experience the country authentically.
