The timeline features Roscosmos landing humans on the Moon before NASA. The early Soviet space program is portrayed through characters facing cold, restrictive life with limited personal freedoms and privacy. Irina Morozova, later a ruthless enforcer and intelligence operative, appears in 1969 as a younger version who is initially “nice.” Her origin in Star City shows her learning what counts as truth and justice behind the Iron Curtain, beginning immediately in the opening two episodes of the new series.
