"It's not a prosthetic. It's my own body,"
"I've been naked on stage before, and I was naked in a film before,"
"That felt a bit boring, so I called the director and said, 'I think he should be smoking and drinking whiskey in the bath, and he should be completely naked and just get up, to show that he owns the whole fucking world.' 'He wouldn't even have to say anything to say, 'I'm above these servants. This is my world. I am dominant, and I control everything.' That's what I wanted to show."
Anthony Boyle confirmed that his full-frontal nude scene in House of Guinness used no prosthetics and originated from his own idea. The eight-part Netflix series begins in Dublin, 1868, after patriarch Benjamin Lee Guinness dies, leaving four children with dark secrets to determine the brewery's fate. Boyle plays eldest child Arthur and appears in episode three standing naked, emerging from a bathtub with his genitalia visible. Boyle said he rewrote the moment from cufflinks to a naked, whiskey-drinking bath to visually convey that Arthur owns and controls his world. The scene drew fan attention and the series also raises questions about Arthur's sexuality.
