Gay Game of Thrones star waltzing into Strictly 2025
Briefly

Kristian Nairn is a 49-year-old actor and DJ from Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He gained fame as Hodor in Game of Thrones and appeared as Wee John Feeney in Our Flag Means Death. Nairn publicly confirmed his homosexuality in a 2014 interview and has campaigned on LGBTQ+ rights in Northern Ireland. He criticised the ban on same-sex marriage in 2019 and co-owned a gay bar in Belfast that closed in 2013. Nairn is a leading Northern Irish house DJ who has performed alongside Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Fatboy Slim. His casting on Strictly Come Dancing 2025 was announced on Radio 2 and confirmed on the show's Instagram.
"When you talk about 'the gay community,' you are talking about my community," he said. "I've never hidden my sexuality from anyone, and I've been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview because it's not something you just blurt out. "I've tried to lead the questions a few times... to no avail."
"It confuses me why we always have to be that little step behind on social issues like this."
"Winter is coming! Game of Throne s' Hodor and DJ [Nairn] is set to star in our line-up for 2025," a post read.
