Galway GAA star Sean Fitzgerald joins new series of Love Island
Seán Fitzgerald has been confirmed as a contestant on Love Island, stepping away from Galway’s senior panel to take part in the ITV dating show in Mallorca. The announcement followed reports that he had been shortlisted for the programme. Fitzgerald, 25, joined Galway’s senior ranks in 2022 and has been a regular in the team’s backline, including playing the full match against Leitrim in the Connacht SFC semi-final on April 25. He was not part of Galway’s panel for the defeat to Roscommon before the show begins on June 1. His Love Island debut will occur two days after Galway face Kildare in Round 1 of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He has a large TikTok following and previously posted a viral audition tape, describing himself as bringing “undignosed whatever” and saying he would be “normal and Irish.”
"He said that he believed he should be in the villa, as he would bring "all of my undiagnosed whatever I have to the table. Do you understand me?" However, he added he wouldn't be pulling someone for a chat, saying that there will be "none of that shite... I would just be normal and Irish," before finishing the video by kissing the screen."
