FX's Dave Is Definitely Over, Andrew Santino Confirms
"I don't even know why that narrative is out there, that's not true. We're not doing the show," Santino continued. "I think people said it was on pause to protect the relationship of the show, but that's all nonsense. The show is done. We are all going our own way and doing our own thing."
"I was a hired gun. That was between Dave Burd, Jeff Schaffer and FX. I had no power over what was happening. I kind of found out when everybody else found out that it wasn't coming back. But people saying, 'Perhaps we'll pause it and come back'... I know better. Dad left to get cigarettes. He's not coming home."
"I put my all into this season and I'm so proud... I don't think there's a miss. All 10 episodes are so great. They're their own independent short films, different genres throughout, and every episode one-ups the next one. I feel like we did it as well as it could be done this season."
Dave has ended after its third season and will not return. Cast members are moving on to separate projects. The decision to end the series involved Dave Burd, Jeff Schaffer, and FX, and other cast members had no control over that decision. The Season 3 finale included guest appearances from Rachel McAdams, Drake, and Brad Pitt and culminated in a violent, memorable sequence. Dave Burd described the season as a proud creative high, calling the episodes like independent short films across different genres.
