From paper to (news)paper: 'The Office' sequel now streaming on Peacock moves from one doomed industry to another
Briefly

The Paper, streaming on Peacock, follows the Toledo Truth Teller, a struggling local newspaper whose digital edition is mostly photos and pop-up ads and whose print edition is treated as a keepsake. The premiere shows managing editor Esmeralda Grand noting that the print version mainly exists for people to frame when mentioned. The paper runs a "Seen Around Town" column listing local names. New editor-in-chief Ned Sampson, played by Domhnall Gleeson, is an idealistic but inexperienced leader trying to restore the paper without hiring new reporters. Evernate, which once bought Dunder Mifflin, now produces the Truth Teller and occupies its former headquarters.
The print version really only exists for people to have something to frame when they are mentioned.
If your name is on this list, our reporter saw YOU around Toledo!
a very idealistic person without a ton of experience coming in and trying to restore the glory of the newspaper, but not being allowed to hire new reporters.
It's a person who is legitimately inspiring to people, perhaps leading them off a cliff, who knows. But, the ability to lead is something Michael Scott didn't have really very much of.
