"Here we are at last, the darkness that the Prime Radiant predicted at the start of the season. While surely someone will have a better theory as to what exactly the end of the predictions meant - the fall of the house of Cleon? The end of Foundation? The death of Demerzel? - what is clear is that the titular darkness does come for everyone. This is a phenomenal way to end an already fantastic season of television."
"Gaal and her Suicide Squad reach the station orbiting New Terminus with murderous intent, and we get a rather cool little visual of the Vault folding in four dimensions and absorbing the station, bringing everyone onboard AI Seldon's field. The Foundation Commandos, including Ebling Mis and Magnifico, blast open a hole to Indbur's former office bathroom, while Pritcher goes on his own to rescue Bayta for Toran, who stays with Gaal."
"Except, of course, he was never the Mule. Yet again, Foundation makes some pretty big changes to the source material, but it arrives at roughly the same outcome: a plot twist that reveals the calculating, conquering dictator was the person we least suspected all along. Congratulations to everyone who, jokingly or not, guessed that Bayta would end up being the Mule. You endured ridicule from book readers convinced the show wouldn't try something that silly."
The season culminates with a darkness predicted by the Prime Radiant engulfing everyone. Gaal leads a Suicide Squad to the station orbiting New Terminus, where the Vault folds in four dimensions and absorbs the station into AI Seldon's field. Foundation commandos breach Indbur's former office while Pritcher infiltrates to rescue Bayta. Gaal confronts a pirate warlord in a mentallic duel and appears to kill the Mule, but the assassin is not the true Mule. The true Mule identity is revealed unexpectedly to be Bayta, subverting expectations while delivering major character deaths and a dramatic, conclusive finale.
