Firefly Animated Series Now in Development, Nathan Fillion Says
"Firefly, one of Consequence's best space TV shows of all time, revolved around a motley crew of misfits just trying to get by in a Western-themed future. The show originally aired on Fox in 2002 but was canceled after failing to take off as a broadcast series, then becoming a cult favorite after its release on DVD."
"The animated series will be set chronologically between the show's original run and the 2005 movie (meaning any characters who may have died in that movie may still be involved). Series creator Joss Whedon will not be involved with the animated series, however, following his recent retreat from the industry."
"Nathan Fillion says a Firefly animated series is in development and searching for buyers, with Fillion and original cast members Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, Adam Baldwin, and Summer Glau expected to voice their roles. Writers Marc Guggenheim and Tara Butters are attached as showrunners."
