Exclusive: Jeremy Renner Breaks Down the Making of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4
"Case in point: Jeremy Renner and co-creator Hugh Dillon will add two new antagonists to the fold when Mayor of Kingstown season 4 returns later this month. The new charactersplayed by Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie) and Lennie James (Fear the Walking Dead)reset the power dynamics of the prison town and present Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) with new challenges on both sides of the law."
"In an exclusive first look behind the scenes of season 4, Renner lays out his character's sole motivation moving forward. "The biggest challenge is to get my brother out of jail and keep him safe," he says. Mike needs to save his brother, Kyle (Taylor Handley), who was locked behind bars after shooting a corrupt law enforcement officer named Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) last season."
"She just wants to be in charge, and she doesn't want to worry about anyone else's feelings, Falco says in the video. So, Mike's unofficial status as a power broker between the prisons and the gangs in Kingstown rubs a lot of new faces the wrong way. As Renner describes it, the new warden's job is to just be a big pain in the ass."
Season 4 adds two antagonists, Warden Nina Hobbs (Edie Falco) and King of Detroit Frank Moses (Lennie James), who reset power dynamics in Kingstown. Mike McLusky's sole motivation is freeing and protecting his brother Kyle, who is jailed for shooting a corrupt officer. Warden Hobbs refuses to let Kyle walk free simply because of family ties and seeks strict control over the prison. Mike's unofficial role as a power broker between prisons and gangs comes under attack from the new warden and new faces. The warden represents the law as Mike's most formidable foe. Gang tensions and prison survival remain central.
