Andrew Hayden-Smith will play Pete Lang, a business associate of Theo Silverton, in Coronation Street's hard-hitting domestic-abuse storyline. Pete is introduced amid growing tension between Theo and his boyfriend Todd Grimshaw, with a clash between Theo and Pete following their hookup and a pivotal incident when Todd accidentally spills a milkshake in Theo's car. Hayden-Smith previously appeared as Ben Carter in Byker Grove, played Jake Simmonds in multiple Doctor Who stories, and portrayed Gavin Armstrong in Hollyoaks. In 2005, while presenting on CBBC, he addressed press interest in his sexuality by speaking to Attitude magazine. He has been dating Dan Maton for several years.
