"Not only was Eric a superbly talented writer, he was just one of those people everyone loved. We are all going to miss him. - Dick Wolf, Law & Order creator"
"We went on to make 98 episodes of one of the best detective stories ever told on television. It wouldn't have happened without Eric. Now he's gone but the stories he told will live on. Rest in peace, my friend. - Michael Connelly"
Eric Overmyer, born in 1951, was a prolific television writer whose career spanned decades of influential crime dramas. Beginning with St. Elsewhere, he joined Homicide: Life on the Street in its fourth season, where he met David Simon and formed a lifelong creative partnership. Together they worked on The Wire and co-created Treme. Overmyer also created Bosch for Prime Video in 2014, adapting Michael Connelly's novels into the platform's longest-running series, which spawned multiple spinoffs including Bosch: Legacy and Ballard. His contributions fundamentally shaped both traditional police procedurals and morally complex streaming dramas, earning widespread respect from peers and collaborators.
