Ego Nwodim Leaving SNL After Seven Seasons
"The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL,"
"I am immensely grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always."
"We finna get fined for that."
Ego Nwodim is departing Saturday Night Live after seven seasons, leaving before Season 51. She joined as a featured player in 2018 and was promoted to repertory status in 2020. Memorable characters included Ms. Eggy, who led a Weekend Update call-and-response that resulted in the audience shouting "shit," and Lisa from Temecula, a lawyer whose love for overcooked steak ruined a meal with host Pedro Pascal. Nwodim expressed gratitude to Lorne Michaels, castmates, writers, and crew, and said she will carry the memories and laughter with her. Her exit follows several other recent departures and coincides with the addition of five new featured players for Season 51.
