"Dylan Dreyer's city kids enjoyed their first Halloween outside the city, parading down leafy streets instead of zipping between apartment elevators. The TODAY meteorologist and her sons Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Rusty, 4, recently relocated from Manhattan to the suburbs, where they discovered that the festivities get underway much earlier. "At 5:30 they were already tired," Dylan said, recounting the evening with Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin on TODAY."
"Once Rusty was done trick-or-treating, he volunteered to man the door, though generosity wasn't exactly his strong suit. Dylan laughed as she recalled how he stood there for two hours, passing out just a single piece of candy to kids. "He would hand out just one Hershey's Kiss," Dylan said, noting that the kids on the receiving end were visibly disappointed, murmuring, "'Aww, man.'""
"Earlier this year, Dylan shared that leaving the Big Apple left her with mixed emotions. "I'm so sad about it but also so ready at the same time!" Dylan told TODAY.com. "It was a love/hate relationship. I was mad everyday with so little space and the boys bothering each other at night: the wild running around but no space to do so. The boys definitely need more running room!""
Dylan Dreyer and her three sons relocated from Manhattan to the suburbs and celebrated their first suburban Halloween by parading down leafy streets. The boys began trick-or-treating earlier than in the city and dressed up: Calvin as a New England Patriots player and Oliver and Rusty as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After trick-or-treating, Rusty manned the door and handed out just a single Hershey's Kiss to visiting children. Dreyer described mixed emotions about leaving New York City, feeling both sad and ready for more space. For TODAY's 2025 Halloween Extravaganza, Dreyer dressed as Frankie Valli, and her sons enjoyed The Four Seasons' songs.
