Derek Dixon, known for playing Dale on Tyler Perry's The Oval, has sued Perry for $260 million over sexual assault and harassment claims. Dixon first met Perry while coordinating events for Perry's studio opening. After being cast in projects like Ruthless and The Oval, Dixon recounts his first alleged assault, describing an incident after having drinks where Perry made an unwanted sexual advance. Dixon expressed fears of retaliation for not coming forward sooner, including job loss and damage to his acting career and relationships with co-stars.
"[Perry] climbed into bed with me and began rubbing my thigh. I immediately jumped out of the bed and said, 'I'm not that sexual' and stood up until he left the room. I thought that my reaction made it clear that night that I was not interested."
He shared that he "was too afraid to come forward. I feared losing my job and acting career as well as the support of my fellow co-stars: 'I knew it would be awful. And I was right.'"
