"We'd mess with people on the Strip, and if it'd rain, maybe we'd go splash people with puddles in my car when I was a teenager."
"Late last night, early this morning, we lost someone very special, who was much too young to go,"
"He was a child prodigy. He would get standing ovations in junior high school, if you can imagine that."
"Through her, I got a record deal with Virgin Records. It was kind of a Latin-y, pop, R&B record. It was kind of like the Latin Explosion record a little too early. I did some stuff in Spanglish, but it was more like a pop, funk-y kind of stuff."
Cleto Escobedo grew up in Las Vegas and shared pranks and a love of comedy with childhood friend Jimmy Kimmel. He began studying saxophone in sixth grade in a musical household and developed into a child prodigy who earned standing ovations in junior high. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, played in bar bands across genres, and in 1990 toured with Paul Abdul, which led to a Virgin Records deal for a Latin-leaning pop/R&B project. The album did not launch a solo career, but Escobedo continued performing with artists including Luis Miguel and Marc Anthony. Jimmy Kimmel delivered an emotional on-air tribute and thanked UCLA Medical Center staff.
