Boots producer reveals season two plot - had it not been axed
"Speaking to Variety, executive producer Brent Miller said that while he was disappointed at the series being axed, he remained "grateful" and "proud" that the show was made in the first place. He went on to reveal what would have been in store for Cameron and his fellow bootcamp attendees if had been renewed. "Our creator, Andy Parker, had always intended to take the boys to war in a season two," Miller explained."
""I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support they gave this show. It truly shattered my expectations, and I couldn't be more grateful. "I grew up so afraid of what being gay would mean for my life. So to be on the other side of that, feeling so uplifted and supported, is still insane to me," "Yes, I'm pretty disappointed we won't be returning."
Netflix cancelled Boots after one season despite a 90 percent Rotten Tomatoes approval rating. Executive producer Brent Miller expressed disappointment but said he remained grateful and proud that the series was made. Miller revealed that creator Andy Parker planned to take the bootcamp characters to war in a second season. Miller had been the producing partner of Norman Lear, who served as the show's lead producer before his death from heart failure in 2023 at age 101, and Boots was Lear's final project. Cast members, including Miles Heizer, shared sadness, gratitude, and disappointment following the cancellation.
