IndieWire Honors Spring 2026 on June 4 in Los Angeles will recognize creators, artisans, and performers behind top television series. Saagar Shaikh, known then for a supporting role in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, loved the Deli Boys script after hearing about it. The gritty-comedic crime series follows pampered Pakistani-American heirs to a deli conglomerate who learn their father’s money came from a secret drug empire. After leaving his agency, Shaikh signed with Gersh and connected with creator Abdullah Saeed, who represented the show. Shaikh first auditioned for Mir, while Saeed was initially set to play Raj, then later Saeed stepped away from Raj and Shaikh auditioned for Raj. Shaikh later did a chemistry test with Asif Ali, a standup comic known for a small supporting role in Marvel’s Wandavision, whose Chicago travel delays affected the reads.
