'Ahsoka' Star Reveals How Season 2 Is Fixing Season 1's Biggest Misstep
"Ahsoka Season 1 was hindered by flaws that seemed preventable: not only was its story slow and uneventful, but it struggled to give its ensemble cast - most of them fan favorites from the animated - equal time in the spotlight. The series was mostly focused on the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), who'd been banished to a neighboring universe in the final season of Rebels."
"Like Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera was a fan favorite in Rebels. An accomplished pilot and the leader of her own sect of the Rebel Alliance, the character was often at the center of the action. Ahsoka, meanwhile, takes place long after the Rebels have defeated the Empire, leaving Hera struggling to find her place in the new regime. Fortunately, that's all set to change in Season 2."
Production paused for two years to refine the series and address Season 1 flaws. Season 1 featured a slow, uneventful story and uneven ensemble focus, concentrating on Grand Admiral Thrawn's return from a neighboring universe, which sidelined characters like Hera Syndulla. Hera is an accomplished pilot and Rebel leader who struggled to find a role in the post-Empire New Republic. Season 2 shifts Hera into a larger, action-oriented role and potentially into leadership of Republic forces as Ahsoka and Sabine remain stranded in the other universe and Thrawn threatens renewed conflict. Season 2 adopts a more epic scope overall.
