"The funniest thing is, it's not enough,"
"A hundred years is not enough. You want to live more, which I plan to."
"You know, I played old men a lot, and I always played them as angry and cantankerous,"
"It's not really that way. I don't know any other 100-year-olds, but I can speak for myself."
Dick Van Dyke reached 100 years old and remains active and optimistic about living longer. Nationwide theater screenings celebrated a documentary about his life. His career included starring on The Dick Van Dyke Show, playing Bert in Mary Poppins, winning a Tony for Bye Bye Birdie, earning a Grammy and four Primetime Emmys, and later starring on Diagnosis: Murder. He became the oldest Daytime Emmy winner for a guest role on Days of Our Lives. He achieved sobriety in the 1970s and credits his wife Arlene Silver with giving him energy and helping keep him young. He also appeared in the film version of Bye Bye Birdie and maintained a celebrated Broadway, film and television career.
