"Producers invited dozens of favorite past competitors and pro dancers, along with former host Tom Bergeron, who joined in on the judge's panel. Previous mirror ball champ, and now judge, Derek Hough choreographed an opening routine that included the six original professional dancers from Season 1: Alec Mazo, Ashly DelGrosso, Louis van Amstel, Jonathan Roberts, Charlotte Jorgensen and Edyta Sliwinska."
"As far as the competition, the couples each performed a new style of dance. Robert Irwin and Witney Carson earned the first perfect 40 of the season for their foxtrot. Robert got a "royal" vote of encouragement when Britain's Prince William FaceTimed during rehearsal! (Both are active conservationists). Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach also hit the perfect 40 mark with their Argentine tango."
"Who won the "Dancing with the Stars" relay dance? The second round of the competition was a Relay Dance where couples competed head-to-head. To play into the 20th birthday reunion theme, instead of dancing with their professional dance partner, each celebrity was partnered with a former Mirrorball winner. One couple performed one half of a song, and the competitor completed the second. The judges then chose the winner of the relay, which meant three teams received two bonus points each, added to their total score."
Dancing with the Stars celebrated 20 years in the ballroom with past competitors and pro dancers returning, and former host Tom Bergeron joining the judges. Derek Hough choreographed an opening routine featuring the six original Season 1 professionals and the current pros in an elaborate reveal. Week 9 saw four couples earn perfect 40s: Robert Irwin and Witney Carson, Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas; Irwin received a FaceTime from Prince William during rehearsal. In a Relay Dance, celebrities partnered with former Mirrorball winners for head-to-head rounds; judges selected three relay winners who each earned two bonus points.
