VW's Cariad Software Division Is Doing Better Now: CEO
Briefly

Cariad, the software division of Volkswagen Group, has shown significant improvement, reducing costs and resolving prior issues with car software, particularly for the ID.3 and ID.4 models. CEO Peter Bosch disclosed in an interview that the division has overcome extensive past operating losses and has begun focusing on internal capabilities over external suppliers. Changes include layoffs of 1,600 employees paired with new hiring for software control, as well as a move towards local development to meet specific market needs.
Cariad is in better shape now than last year, having reduced costs and put past issues with infotainment systems behind it, claims CEO Peter Bosch.
Peter Bosch stated, 'When you take on a task that everyone knows is difficult, you don't do it expecting constant applause... But we delivered.'
Bosch emphasized the importance of controlling their own software, saying, 'Our employees know, write, understand, and change the code - even via over-the-air updates.'
Following a shift to local development for software, Bosch noted, 'The development, design, and production are all local to meet consumer expectations and regulatory demands.'
