TikTok blames its US problems on a power outage
""working to restore our services following a power outage at a U.S. data center impacting TikTok and other apps we operate.""
""We're working with our data center partner to stabilize our service,""
""We're sorry for this disruption and hope to resolve it soon.""
TikTok US users experienced widespread issues beginning early Sunday morning, including inability to upload videos and inability to see most new videos. Some users reported that their personalized algorithm appeared to "reset." TikTok USDS attributed the outage to a power outage at a U.S. data center that also affected other apps the joint venture operates. A new joint venture led by Oracle and investor partners took control of TikTok in the U.S. last week and plans to route U.S. user data through Oracle-owned data centers and host a U.S.-trained version of TikTok's algorithm. TikTok USDS says it is working with its data center partner to stabilize service and apologizes for the disruption. The company did not specify whether the outage occurred at an Oracle data center or was related to a widespread snowstorm.
