"The company rolling out mobile phone coverage in tube tunnels is also improving coverage in busy surface areas by accessing Transport for London ( TfL) street assets. Boldyn Networks has an agreement to reuse Transport for London ducts that run under pavements, connecting assets such as traffic lights and CCTV networks to TfL's head office. Boldyn can run its own fibre through the ducts, building its own fibre network for broadband internet providers, while also installing small cell phone signal boosters along the route."
"This small cell roll out is a significant milestone to help improve digital connectivity in the capital and it's great to see the speed at which this has been installed. London is a vibrant, world class city and this initiative is another example of how the Mayor's Connected London programme works with boroughs and telcos so more of London benefits from well-connected areas with better mobile signal as we build a better and more prosperous London for everyone."
Boldyn Networks has an agreement to reuse Transport for London (TfL) ducts under pavements to run its own fibre, connecting assets and building a fibre network for broadband providers. The company installs small cell phone signal boosters along the ducts to improve surface-area mobile coverage in busy London locations. Boldyn has deployed over 200 small cells and can add a new cell within three months of order confirmation. Small cells provide localised signal increases and are compact enough for street lamps and road signs. Boldyn leases its neutral network infrastructure to mobile networks for local signal boosts. Recent coverage gains include King's Cross, Waterloo, London Bridge, Old Street, The Shard and Hyde Park Corner.
