Plex appeal fades as Lifetime Pass jumps to $750

Plex increases the Lifetime Plex Pass price from $249.99 to $749.99 effective July 1. The change does not apply to existing Lifetime Plex Pass holders, and monthly and annual subscription pricing remains unchanged. Lifetime Plex Pass pricing has previously moved from $74.99 to $149.99 in 2014, down to $119.99, then up to $249.99 in April 2025, followed by the new increase. Plex functions mainly as a media server that hosts content and serves it to clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, and network devices, with clients available on many platforms including iOS and Android. Remote access and features like hardware transcoding and media downloads have shifted to paid tiers. Plex states recurring subscriptions support long-term development, making one-time lifetime payments less attractive.
