After the January 13 Windows updates, some applications became unresponsive or showed unexpected errors when opening or saving files to cloud-based storage like OneDrive or Dropbox. Certain Microsoft Outlook configurations that store PST files on OneDrive could cause Outlook to hang, cause sent messages to go missing, or trigger previously downloaded emails to be re-downloaded. The problem affected Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server installations in affected environments. Microsoft issued out-of-band emergency updates for Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 to address the issue and restore normal file access and Outlook behavior.
