Meta is cutting roughly 10 percent of its Reality Labs metaverse division, including layoffs that affected multiple VR game studios. Former employees report closures at Twisted Pixel Games, Sanzaru Games, and Armature Studio, and staff members have posted about being laid off. Meta stated it is shifting some investment from Metaverse toward Wearables and intends to reinvest savings to support wearables growth this year. Meta acquired Twisted Pixel and Armature in 2022 and acquired Sanzaru in 2020. Ready at Dawn, another acquired studio, was closed in 2024.
