I lost my software engineer job in May and have taken up welding. I'm happy to leave the tech industry - AI has changed it.
Briefly

Tabby Toney, a former software engineer, transitioned to welding after a layoff exacerbated frustrations with the tech industry’s reliance on AI. Initially enjoying the creative problem-solving aspects of her tech job, Toney felt increasingly disengaged as those opportunities diminished. Following her layoff in May, she sought a more fulfilling and engaging career. Adapting to her new path in welding, she plans to pursue it professionally after training. Toney’s experience reflects a broader trend of individuals leaving the tech sector amid ongoing layoffs.

Layoffs have forced me to figure out what to do next. I had a feeling I was going to get laid off due to the industry's direction with AI, so I was hoarding all my extra money in preparation.
