A widespread outage of Amazon Web Services disrupted many online services, affecting mobile orders, games, social apps, and workplace messaging. The outage impacted more than 80 AWS services and caused delays for Starbucks mobile orders, limited access to Wordle and Reddit, and interrupted work Slack messages. Smart-home devices such as Alexa and Ring experienced ringing alarms, failed commands, and camera outages, producing alarm failures and heightening security concerns. Some users reported missed market trades after outages at brokerages like Robinhood and Webull. Amazon initially reported the issue as "fully mitigated," but a second wave of US user issues occurred later that morning.
