EPB's fiber optic network and automated automated electric grid have produced $5.3 billion in community benefit since their 2010 launch and full completion in 2011. The projects returned more than six times the original investment cost. The initiatives supported creation of 10,420 jobs from 2011–2024, representing 31% of local job growth during that period. EPB contributed $84.06 million in payments-in-lieu-of-taxes to Hamilton County, Chattanooga and other local governments. HCS EdConnect powered by EPB helped bridge the digital divide by providing high-speed fiber connectivity for Hamilton County students. EPB investment continues to attract tech startups, remote workers and researchers and advance quantum network development.
