Elon Musk gets $2bn FAA contract in 'glaring conflict of interest'
Briefly

Elon Musk faces conflict of interest allegations following the FAA's agreement to transfer a $2 billion air traffic control contract to SpaceX. Musk has publicly criticized existing Verizon technology for being outdated and risky for air travelers. Critics voice concern regarding Musk's oversight of agencies regulating SpaceX, especially as he also pushes for cuts to federal spending. The FAA has been considering Starlink for improving telecommunications connections since prior administrations. The situation raises serious questions about the appropriateness of his dual roles as a contractor and regulator.
"The most glaring conflict of interest of all is that Elon Musk is a government contractor himself who collects billions of dollars from the US government," Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said in a recent interview.
"Starlink equipment has already been installed in FAA facilities as a prelude to the contract takeover, according to government employees, contractors and people familiar with the work."
