Web attacks were alarmingly high in 2024, reaching 311 billion, a staggering increase of 33% year on year. APIs were particularly targeted, accounting for over a third of these attacks, with 150 billion specifically aimed at API vulnerabilities. The rise is partly attributed to the integration of AI technology, which, while improving threat detection, also creates new vulnerabilities, especially where authentication is weak. The high technology sector emerged as the most impacted industry, with significant increases in Layer 7 DDoS attacks, posing serious concerns for web security.
