Multiple major online platforms experienced outages caused by a problem at Amazon Web Services (AWS). The incident originated at AWS facilities in north Virginia and impacted Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which provide storage and compute capacity. Down Detector registered issues across many apps and sites including Snapchat, Roblox, Canva, Fortnite, Duolingo and Coinbase. Coinbase confirmed access issues for many users while assuring that all funds remained safe. Perplexity's CEO attributed the outage to an AWS problem.
