China launches first sats for orbital AI cloud
Briefly

Guoxing Aerospace has successfully launched a dozen satellites, each with impressive computing power, as a pioneering step toward a larger constellation of 2,800 satellites designed for astronomical observations and other services. The satellites leverage high-speed communication and advanced AI capabilities. In a separate development, South Korea is acquiring a powerful supercomputer to bolster research capabilities, while also planning to purchase thousands of GPUs. However, the tech sector in APAC faces a slowdown in growth forecasts due to US tariffs that may disrupt supply chains and increase costs.
Forrester predicted technology spending in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region would grow by 6.5 percent in 2025 to reach US$722 billion, up from US$678 billion in 2024. However last week the firm revised its forecast.
Guoxing Aerospace hopes its satellites assist emergency services and help drone users down on earth, while running an eight-billion parameter AI model for astronomical observations.
