Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, stated that AI could automate up to 90% of coding for software engineers in the near future. He expressed concerns about the job implications at a Council of Foreign Relations event, suggesting that while human oversight remains essential for now, the shift could soon lead to AI assuming more responsibilities. Amodei's predictions align with comments from Mark Zuckerberg, indicating a widespread transition in the tech industry with substantial investments in AI aimed at replacing human engineers while also enhancing their roles.
"On the jobs side of this, I do have a fair amount of concern," Amodei said at a Council of Foreign Relations event on Monday, per Business Insider. "In 12 months, we may be in a world where AI is writing essentially all of the code."
"I think that will happen in every industry," he stated, suggesting a future where AI capabilities grow to replace human roles, including task management and design features.
