Another Oracle outage is messing up US TikTok
"TikTok USDS confirmed in a post on X that US users "may temporarily experience lags in posting content while Oracle works to resolve the issue." This is the second service disruption the US version of TikTok has suffered after a deal in January that transferred majority ownership away from the platform's original owner, Chinese company ByteDance."
"The service disruption, impacting Oracle's Ashburn, Virginia data center, began early Tuesday afternoon, with Downdetector reports spiking around 1PM Eastern. The previous round of issues happened shortly after a joint venture, TikTok USDS, which includes Oracle, took over the app in the US as part of that deal."
TikTok's US version faced another service disruption on Tuesday afternoon when Oracle's Ashburn, Virginia data center experienced technical problems. The outage caused users to experience lags when posting content, with Downdetector reports indicating issues around 1PM Eastern. TikTok USDS, the joint venture that now operates the US version following a January ownership transfer from ByteDance, confirmed the disruption. This marks the second major outage since the new ownership structure took effect, with the previous incident in February also attributed to an Oracle data center power outage.
