During Meta Connect, two live demonstrations malfunctioned during reveals of second-generation Ray-Bans, a neural wristband, the Ray-Ban Display heads-up display, and Oakley sports glasses. A cooking demo using voice-controlled Ray-Bans responded with incorrect, out-of-order instructions and ignored repeated user prompts. The CEO experienced the interruption onstage, and the CTO explained that a single demo triggered live AI across many devices, overloading the venue WiFi and effectively DDoSing the local network. The CTO also cited a bug in the new Ray-Ban Display as a contributing factor to the demo glitches.
