Amazon Web Services experienced a widespread outage early Monday that disrupted dozens of major online services worldwide, including Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite, Signal, Coinbase, Robinhood and many others. The outage affected both third-party services and Amazon products such as Ring doorbell cameras, Alexa-enabled speakers and Kindle downloads. DownDetector reported issues across multiple apps and services and noted the problems were possibly related to Amazon Web Services. Amazon attributed the disruption to issues with its domain name system, which converts web addresses into IP addresses, and posted that engineers were investigating increased error rates and latencies in the US-EAST-1 region. About three hours after initial trouble, Amazon said recovery was beginning across most affected services.
