Alameda-based Exelixis will lay off 71 headquarters workers, and Web to Door will eliminate 192 roles and cease operations at three Bay Area facilities.
Just days after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. government had secured a 10% stake in Intel, the Santa Clara-based company revealed that it was cutting nearly 200 jobs in California, according to WARN letters filed on Aug. 25 with the state Employment Development Department. Intel is cutting 98 jobs in Santa Clara and 83 jobs in Folsom. The cuts were originally scheduled to occur within a 14-day period centered on July 15.
Including the most recent cuts, Intel has now disclosed plans to slash 2,461 jobs in the Bay Area in recent years, according to this news organization's review of the WARN letters that Intel has filed starting in 2023. The Intel staffing reductions in the Bay Area consist of 927 layoffs in 2023, 700 in 2024, and 834 so far in 2025, the review of the WARN notices shows.
