"What started as frustration with finding odd jobs on Nextdoor has grown into JobMatch, a new gig platform designed by three Walnut Creek seniors at Las Lomas High School who wanted to make it easier for youth to connect with community job opportunities. Twin brothers Nico and Alex Alessi and longtime friend Mason Grant co-founded the venture earlier this year with the help of the twins' father, Tom Alessi, a longtime technology executive. The platform, jobmat.ch, officially launched March 27."
"From frustrations with nextdoor.com to startup inspiration, the idea grew from the teens' own experiences. Adults frequently post on Nextdoor when they need help with moving, yard work or pet sitting, said Nico, who serves as their company's head of products. But it's not very efficient. You have to check daily and hope you see a post in time. We wanted something built specifically for kids."
JobMatch launched March 27 as a gig platform aimed at helping teens and young adults find flexible local work. The platform connects youth to gigs such as lawn care, pet sitting, tutoring and moving help. JobMatch includes secure communication, gig applications, ratings and reviews, and an ambassador program for student representatives in neighborhoods. Founders Nico and Alex Alessi and Mason Grant co-founded the venture with technical support from Tom Alessi. The idea grew from frustration with Nextdoor's inefficiency in matching teens to short-term jobs. Each founder handles distinct roles: product development, operations and community outreach.
