""I could never take notes and pay attention to the teacher at the same time," Dhawan said."
""At the same time, AI was starting to boom.""
Rudy Arora and Sarthak Dhawan, both 20, built Turbo AI to help students record lectures and generate notes, flashcards, and quizzes. The app grew from 1 million to 5.7 million users in six months and is adding about 20,000 new users per day, aiming for eight-figure annual recurring revenue. Arora and Dhawan began coding together in middle and high school, previously creating a viral Christmas light installation app that earned $60,000. They started college in 2023 at Northwestern and Duke respectively. Dhawan cites difficulty taking notes while paying attention as a core user pain point.
