Amsterdam-based Moonwatt has raised $8.3M in seed funding to develop its solar-only energy storage systems utilizing sodium-ion batteries. Co-led by Daphni and LEA Partners, along with several other investors, the funding will support a pilot installation set to launch in Europe next year, aimed at commercial rollout by 2027. Moonwatt's solution is designed for medium to large solar plants, managing energy fluctuations and improving revenue via advanced battery enclosures and software, solidifying its position in the renewable energy sector.
The storage system is designed in a distributed way, improving efficiency and lowering costs of dispatchable electricity by connecting units closer to solar panels.
Moonwatt's sodium-ion battery technology provides a reliable solution for stationary solar power storage, enhancing revenue for solar plants while helping to manage energy fluctuations.
