Pop!_OS's default GNOME desktop lags behind current GNOME releases and exhibits issues such as lock-screen flicker and random crashes. Some crashes required SSH access and a custom restart_gnome script to recover. System76 appears to prioritize COSMIC development over GNOME updates with ambitious long-term goals.
